Servants of the Poor

Servants of the Poor are men and women who volunteer for at least one year, although some decide to continue with Brother Benno's for an extended period. Servants of the Poor come to us from throughout the country and are of all ages, religions, and ethnic backgrounds.  Those who meet our criteria go through a careful screening process and spend a period of two weeks with us in order to gain hands-on experience. At the end of this period, we and the prospective Servant are able to discern whether God is calling them to serve His beloved poor at Brother Benno’s. Servants of the Poor bring many gifts, as well as their desire to serve unselfishly, in order to perpetuate Brother Benno's love and compassion in this struggling world.

Room and board, plus a small discretionary allowance, are provided. Servants of the Poor are expected to serve at our center 5 days a week, from 6:30am to 1pm.
