Serving Teams

Volunteers Serve Food and Love

Early in the morning, Monday through Friday, Brother Benno’s volunteers serve a hot breakfast to the working poor and the unsheltered.  On Saturdays, teams serve a brunch meal to our Guests.

Churches, service organizations, clubs, businesses, and others have signed up to serve on the Brother Benno’s serving line.

Requirements

  • Teams should have between 4 to 6 people; larger groups, up to 10, can be accommodated.
  • Children can be part of a team but must be 14 or older and accompanied by a responsible adult
  • Team members should be able to stand for 2 hours
  • Required dress:  closed-toed shoes and some type of head covering to pull the hair back (we supply hairnets as needed)
  • Ability to stand for approximately 2 hours
  • Days & Hours: Monday - Friday 6:15 AM - 8:00 AM. Saturday 9:30 AM - noon

In addition to the foods prepared in our kitchen, "rescued" food donated by local grocery stores expands breakfast and Saturday brunch options served by our serving teams. These items often include baked goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, milk and fruit juices.

We'd love to have you and your team join us.

Scott M

Serving Team Leader

“Brother Benno’s is a great organization that we like helping because they serve a very critical need in North County by helping to feed the homeless, and they work with them to get off any addictions. It’s particularly heartbreaking when young children come through the serving line with their parents.”

A Volunteer

“It’s truly humbling to be on the front line and engaging with the unhoused and less fortunate to help them get through the day...that brings me back every week as a volunteer! I love Brother Benno’s!”

Helen Parsons

Board of Directors

“The good Lord has allowed me to work with amazing people. Together, we’ve been able to create opportunities for our guests and the community. My time in our auxiliary and serving our foundation’s board have been priceless. There I learned about the true meaning of loving those in need.”

A Volunteer

“I enjoy volunteering because I meet new people every day and they enrich my life by their journey in life.”

Angie Hanifin

"The members of Soroptimist International of Oceanside-Carlsbad have served for many years at Brother Bennos.  It has been a wonderful opportunity to provide nourishing food, as well as connect with the guests in a warm and friendly environment.  The Brother Benno's team is truly welcoming to volunteers and steadfast in their work to uplift and encourage the guests."
