The First Step to Volunteering – Take A Tour

Come join us! A tour and volunteer orientation is held the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 AM at the Brother Benno Center, 3260 Production Avenue in Oceanside. (Please park on the street and check in at the main entrance (the front door on the right).  No reservation is required.

If you have a special skill or talent that you don’t see covered below, please let us know on your application, and we will see how we might be able to bring you into the Brother Benno family. Whatever you’d like to do at Brother Benno’s, your involvement can be as simple or extensive as you care to make it.

Please note that our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:30 AM - 11:00 AM. Our age requirement is 18 and over. All volunteer positions require a volunteer registration form, and some positions require a background check.  Unfortunately, we are unable to accept court-ordered community service.

For questions or additional information, contact our Manager of Volunteer Programs via email: volunteers@brotherbenno.org or you can leave a message at (760) 231-1613.

Thank you for your interest. We look forward to meeting you!

Volunteering as a Group?

If you are interested in opportunities to volunteer as a group, please contact  volunteers@brotherbenno.org or call us at (760) 231-1613. Depending upon your size and our needs, we will try to accommodate your group. When possible, please try to provide two weeks advanced notice for any large group event

If your group is interested in volunteering as a serving team, we have more information for you here.

Holiday Events and Volunteering

During the holidays, many people contact Brother Benno’s to serve food for the holidays. We have a volunteer holiday serving team coordinator for Thanksgiving and Christmas who manages those two special days at the Center. While many people return year after year to help serve, there are some limited volunteer opportunities available. Please contact brotherbennosholidays@gmail.com for more information.

We also host an annual Children’s Christmas Party. If you are interested in volunteering for that event, please contact Helen Parsons at volunteers@brotherbenno.org.

Barbara Ladwig

"We can’t personally thank everyone; but if  you’re a long-time volunteer, or someone who’s just come on board, please know that you are appreciated. And it’s my guess that you’re getting back more than you give.
It’s just the way it happens when we serve others."

Lori J.

“It truly fills my heart to help and offer what I can. Even if it’s a smile, a hug or just acknowledging folks by name. There is such love in this organization and the people who devote their personal time are truly amazing.”

John Jarvie

"The personal satisfaction I receive from seeing firsthand what Brother Benno does for the homeless makes it all worthwhile."

A Volunteer

“I enjoy volunteering because I meet new people every day and they enrich my life by their journey in life.”

Scott M.

Serving Team Leader

“Brother Benno’s is a great organization that we like helping because they serve a very critical need in North County by helping to feed the homeless, and they work with them to get off any addictions. It’s particularly heartbreaking when young children come through the serving line with their parents.”

Helen Parsons

Board of Directors

“The good Lord has allowed me to work with amazing people. Together, we’ve been able to create opportunities for our guests and the community. My time in our auxiliary and serving our foundation’s board have been priceless. There I learned about the true meaning of loving those in need.”
