Rental Assistance Required Documents

Important Information

  • Printed copies are required. Brother Benno’s cannot print documents for you.

  • If you need free computer and printing access, check your local public library.

  • If the rental check is made out to a person rather than a rental company, the landlord must complete a W-9 form.

Required Documents

3-Day Pay or Quit Notice

  • Must be for the current month. (Note: We cannot accept ledger printouts.)

Lease Agreement Include the first few pages through the signature page.

  • If there are multiple adults on the lease, proof of income is required for each adult.

Proof of Income Acceptable forms include:

  • Pay stubs
  • Benefit award letters (e.g., GR, EBT, SSI, SSDI)
  • Letter of termination or final pay stub (if recently laid off)
  • Bank statements (if no other documentation is available)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you print documents for me?
Unfortunately, Brother Benno's cannot print your documents. You will need to use free or low cost printing services. Check you local public library.

Can I use a 3-day notice for the previous months?
No. Unfortunately, we must have a current 3-day notice.

What if my lease isn't signed or it doesn't indicate it's active?
Your lease must be signed by both you and the landlord to be accepted. It must also indicate that it's active or that you are on a month to month.

Can I submit documents for someone else?
No. We need the person requesting assistance bring the documents.
